Public Art Pilot Plan

On July 13, 2021 the Board of County Commissioners approved the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Public Art Pilot Plan and authorized staff to submit a proposed change to the Land Development Code related to murals in the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Area (BGTCRA).  The vision for this plan is one where art celebrates the BGTCRA history, vibrant cultures, and people.  The Plan outlines guiding principles, goals and program management strategies for plan implementation. Over the next several months, CRA staff will begin the processes to establish the procedures needed for plan implementation.

To implement the Public Art Pilot Plan, staff is coordinating with the Public Art Committee to develop guidelines and processes to implement a public art program. The CRA is developing a grant program to assist with funding approved public art projects.

The Plan proposes a Public Art Committee be created to advise the Board on all matters relating to the public art within the entire unincorporated area of the County, including the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Area.  The Ordinance to create the PAC was approved by the BCC on December 14, 2021.
