The signature Gateway Mini-Triangle project is one step closer to moving forward. In January 2016, the CRA entered into a Purchase Agreement with Real Estate Partners International (REPI) for the sale of the 5.27-acre catalyst site. In 2018, the rezoning and comprehensive plan amendment was approved to establish the Mini-Triangle Mixed Use District that allows for a mix of residential, hotel, and retail uses. In July 2018, the Board approved the Cell Tower Agreement with Crown Castle setting the terms and conditions to decommission, demolish and remove the existing tower on the property and terminate the lease in advance of 2024. On August 14, 2020, all conditions were completed and the lease with Crown Castle was terminated. On September 8, 2020, the CRA Board approved a 60-day extension to closing and ratified the assignment of the Agreement from REPI to Metropolitan Naples, LLC. The closing took place on November 13, 2020. Demolition of all the vacant buildings are almost completed and Naples Triangle Development (NTD) is submitting for Site Development Plan approval to construct. 240 luxury apartments. Construction anticipated to commence in January 2022.
